Common Boiler Repair Issues

Every day, we encounter common issues that could be signs that your boiler requires repair. If you suspect that your boiler is not functioning correctly due to any of the following problems, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

If your radiators are not getting hot, or if you’re not getting any hot water from your taps or shower, this could indicate a problem with your boiler’s heat exchanger or pump.

Rattling, banging or other unusual noises coming from your boiler may be a sign of a problem with the pump, fan or heat exchanger.

If your boiler’s pilot light won’t light or keeps going out, this could indicate a problem with the thermocouple or gas valve.

A drop in your boiler’s pressure could be caused by a leak in the system or an issue with the Expansion vessel or pressure relief valve.

In colder weather, the condensate pipe that carries waste water from your boiler to the drain outside can freeze over, causing your boiler to shut down.

If your heating system won’t respond to changes in your thermostat settings, it could be a problem with the thermostat itself, or with the wiring connecting it to your boiler.

A leak in your boiler could be caused by a damaged seal, a corroded pipe, or a faulty pressure relief valve.

If your boiler keeps switching off before it reaches the desired temperature, it could be a sign of a faulty thermostat, pressure sensor or pump.

DMK plumbing have done a fantastic job replacing my boiler and taking away the old boiler and water tanks. They gave me clear, honest advice and a transparent, comprehensive quote. As important, they came when they said they would and did a neat and tidy job. I’m really pleased with the job and would recommend them.

Our boiler broke down just before Christmas and Kosta fitted new boiler in time for Christmas working until 8pm to do so. He's a really pleasant guy, does a great job and is a great communicator via text and phone. If we have any other plumbing issues he'd be our first port of call and we would readily recommend him to others. We're very pleased to have found such a good, reliable plumber.

What a real gentleman! So incredibly helpful when guests arrived at my holiday let late at night and couldn't get the heating to start. Costa was very quick to respond despite it being 10 pm, understood the urgency (13 degrees, a cold November night and a tiny baby don't mix well), and sorted out the issue in a very short space of time. Not only that, he had a calm and reassuring manner which helped as the tired and freezing parents were getting worried. Thank you very much!

We’ve had an excellent experience with DMK Plumbing. From start to finish, the service was professional, efficient, and genuinely friendly. We’ve had a new radiator installed, a full boiler service, a toilet flush repaired, and new taps fitted — all completed to a really high standard.

They arrived on time, quickly diagnosed any issues, and explained everything clearly. Pricing was fair and transparent, and the quality of workmanship was spot on.

It’s refreshing to deal with a tradesperson who takes pride in their work and values good customer service. I wouldn’t hesitate to use DMK Plumbing again and highly recommend them to anyone in need of reliable plumbing help.
